Just a quick note to say that Scott’s hair is on fire.  To make matters worse, Scott’s going on “vacation” and won’t be able to deliver the Podcheck goodness via audio until July 14th.  Jeff is also insanely busy and has two options: narrow his scope, or broaden his medications.

As such, Scott threw together a gift, an apology letter of sorts for our hiatus in the form of this audio message. (You’re welcome, Andy!)

Some production notes: The old scratchy version of “Yes, We Have No Bananas” is from The Cylinder Preservation and Digitization Project  - Creative Commons License Attribution: “University of California, Santa Barbara Library”

Here is some text from their website describing their mission and copyright information:

On this site you will have the opportunity to find out more about the cylinder format, listen to thousands of musical and spoken selections from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and discover a little-known era of recorded sound.

Restored versions of the audio files, including the downloadable MP3 files are © 2005 by the Regents of the University of California. They are licensed for non-commercial public use under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5 License.

I searched for “Bananas” and came up with two hits, one of which served as the music for today’s audio production.  The singing and voices are just Scott with a TON of equalization to remove the bass and midrange.  I produced it entirely in Sony ACID Music Studio.  I know.  It’s truly remarkable.

Please enjoy your Fourth of July holiday, be safe, and be well.

Welcome back!  In this ‘part 2′ of the previous show, we talk about YouTube, Yahoo Video, smiling when you talk, the Expo, not going to the Expo, who’s going to the Expo, and poking a stick at Paul Colligan.  Also, Dave Shepherd goes all der wienerschnitzel on our butts as he corrects our misguided and unwelcome mispronunciations of German Podcast angel Annik Rubens’”Schlaflos en munchen” podcast.  Furthermore, Joel Ross corrects our Windows Media Player playback speed misconception.  Addtionally, we know some things.  Lastly, Scott whores himself and suggests that you buy some useless Podcheck crap at Cafe Press.

It’s the mundane news, jazzed up with some music beds, and spritzed with just a hint of lemon.  Its another Podcheck Review!

The secret of life in essay form after the jump… (more…)

In today’s show, is that an iPod in your shoe, lots of Podcast Expo news, spying on other podcast subscriber numbers with Feedburner, and Scott takes a few minutes to correct some of the factual errors that he made in the last show!  We TRIED to keep it to w0 minutes, but… we… just… couldn’t… do it!

(Recorded Thursday, June 1st, 2006, but delayed due to lame, mundane technical gaffs.)

All of the carnage after the jump… (more…)
