Happy Morgan

The Fletcher household is still a wreck, but Sam and Steve from the SG Show  (http://sgshow.blogspot.com) have a very special surprise for us!

Here at the palatial Caraworks Studios, the 2-month old baby’s colic is starting to subside, after eliminating dairy products from mom’s diet and administering Zantac to the baby four times a day.  A side effect of this endless misery is the nearly total lack of awareness of the world around us.  As a result, the Podcheck dry spell continues for a third straight week.  As much as I’d LOVE to comment on the Denver Post’s new $30,000 advertising deal with Best Buy, I just can’t today.  Even worse, the hype machine spins up again over at the International Nanocasting and Storm Door Repair Alliance, and it garners nary a mention!

Meanwhile, people continue to buy iPods and iRivers, people still produce podcasts, and people still continue to be disappointed by The Fox Casts of The Family Guy and The Simpsons.

Regarding our baby-crying problem, an e-mail from Bill Mackiewicz suggested that all we had to say in our show was simply - “Colic, ” Bill went on to say “and I’m sure a bunch of us reading it would have slapped our heads and said, “ohhh……” collectively, and that would have been that.”

Special thanks to EVERYONE who sent e-mails of support.  We appreciate it!  We also appreciate the tremendous effort set forth by Sam and Steve from the SG Show when they made a ‘tribute’ version of the Podcheck.  Please enjoy the following presentation by Sam, from the SG Show.

Wahhhh!!! Where’s the Show?!?

(Text post)

A bit of an apology here from the Podcheck crew:  After the startlingly well-produced promo that we released last Thursday, we discovered (the hard way) that our 2-month old baby is sensitive to the milk products being consumed by mom.  And when I say “sensitive,” I really mean beset by “colic.”  And when I say “beset by colic,” I mean that the kid seems miserable.  We’re not alone, and there’s nothing particularly special about our situation.  About 25% of babies suffer from colic.

Morgan colic face

With about 4 million babies born every year in the United States, this means that about a million babies, and everyone around them, are affected negatively by what appears to be inconsolable crying. - http://www.colichelp.com/

Everyone is relatively healthy, but there’s nothing like round-the-clock walking-and-patting sessions to deplete all creativity from your soul.

The main problem with the condition is the stress and anxiety it creates within the home.-

Accordingly, the next Podcheck podcast has been postponed until we can get the mom-> baby food chain straightened out.  The doc says that it will take about a week to see if this change in diet has any effect.  Then, after a bit of mental recovery, we should be back to normal.  Again, everyone is healthy, so there is no need to worry about the little Fletcher.  She will grow up to be a fine addition to the Podcheck production team.
